We have an amazing bunch of grooms that help the yard run smoothly. Welcoming, friendly, reliable and trustworthy – Absolute gold dust to our yard. Our grooms are our daily keepers of the welfare of all our horses ensuring they are fed, groomed and turned out correctly.
Anna – Yard Manager
Anna joined us in September 2020 and swiftly rose through the ranks to become our very own Yard Manager. Her calm and level-headed nature makes her perfect for her role in keeping the yard running (relatively) smoothly on a day to day basis. Anna started riding when she was 12 and was immediately hooked, going on to achieve a Level 3 Equine Management qualification as well as a degree in Equestrian Sports Science. She’s a talented rider that often assists with schooling our horses and ponies as well as keeping the rest of us up to scratch.
Bubbly, hardworking and ever-capable, Abi is a fantastic addition to our team. She started riding as a child when her mum rode horses in connection with the military and has owned ponies and horses ever since. Queen of creative solutions to horsey problems, Abi has been with us since the start of 2021 and can usually be found running this way and that in her cowboy boots with her arms filled with tack. In her free time Abi is learning to ride Western on her own horse, Spirit.
Since reopening our doors after the first lockdown the lovely Vikki has been coming in on a weekly basis to double check and clean our tack. Whether it’s replacing dirty numnahs, wrapping bridles beautifully or polishing our saddles until they gleam, our tack never looks better than after a Vikki TLC session. In her free time Vikki competes in dressage competitions with her very own pony and is a proud doggie owner.
Hannah has worked at riding stables and even a polo yard before she came to us at Larkspur. She has years of experience working with horses dating back to working as a pre-teen at a riding school not dissimilar from ours! After learning to ride at 5, Hannah gave up riding for 13 years when she started college and got back into it when she was 30. Now we’re lucky enough to have her, amongst all her other jobs, keeping our fields beautifully clean and tidy for our horses and ponies.
Molly has been riding since she was 7 years old and has loved horses ever since. She’s been working and riding with us since 2018 and we’re so excited to see how she’s grown whilst in our ranks. When she’s not sneaking off to cuddle TinTin she prides herself on her expert sweeping abilities and the number of horses she can bring in at a time.
Well on the way to joining the ranks of the legendary home-grown Hannah and Hattie, Amelie has been a part of the Larkspur team since she first started riding with us in 2017. Her whole family are close to Larkspur’s heart as her older sister also used to ride and work with us and her mum Annette can often be caught sneaking into a cheeky adult lesson. Amelie’s favourite horse is our very own Daisy who we do let her ride… once she’s finished her mucking out.
Hannah is a real Larkspur success story! Joining us when we first opened in 2016 as a young rider she has grown into a confident, valued member of our team. Hannah’s passion for equestrian life is evident in all aspects – she has become an accomplished horsewoman at competing, dressage and jumping. Her knowledge around the yard, horses & ponies is obvious to all and her natural affinity with the animals is a delight to watch. Most days Hannah can be seen whizzing around leading multiple ponies or wheeling a wheelbarrow after mucking out – Hannah’s mucking out skills rival no other and our horses benefit from her attention to detail and beautifully made beds on a daily basis. Hannah achieved her Level 3 Equine Management from Merrist Wood and is now studying at Hartpury Equine University.
It’s a great possibility that Hattie could ride prior to walking! Growing up in an equestrian family Hattie has an inherent knowledge which we now have the benefit of. Having always had horses, she loves a challenge and to nurture those that require a ‘little bit more’. Hattie loves to compete and attend show jumping events. Joining Larkspur she has become a ‘go to’ member of the team for both clients and colleagues. Pony Parties are Hattie’s forte – she is great with the youngsters, ensuring that all have a safe, fun filled day to remember. Hattie achieved her Level 3 Equine Management from Merrist Wood and is now studying at Hartpury Equine University.
Jayne has been riding since her childhood and has always been an animal lover. Working with us since we opened in 2016 Jayne is famous for her reliability and always having a smile on her face whatever the weather. As a mum of two she has a wonderful caring and calming nature and is a big asset to our team.
