Southerly Roberts

Southerly Roberts and Larkspurs `Just Like That` competing in the Open Working Hunter at Hickstead 2019

Southerly comes from great riding stock, with her father being an accomplished jockey, racing for over 40 years.

Southerly started her riding career in the show ring though soon realised working hunter classes suited her better than pure flat showing.

She was in demand at an early age due to small size, lack of fear and a rapport with misunderstood and complicated ponies and horses which not only increased the range of ponies and horses she rode but all the disciplines she competed and currently competes.

Southerly has been successful at the Horse of the year show, the Royal International horse show plus many of the large county shows in: side saddle, cob classes, working hunter, ridden hunter, show hacks, as well as holding several national show jumping titles. She’s won BE events, arena eventing, jumping and style and British dressage. Southerly has raced at Ascot, taught polo cross, been on horse back safari and ridden her majesty’s Ex-Carriage horse.

Southerly has a long standing relationship with Larkspur: she has backed/produced Loki, Nadir, Basheera, Malone and Louis. Basheera has been produced to county championship level with a national championship qualification for 2021. Alongside Basheera, Louis has qualified for Open Working Hunter at the Royal International Horse show 2021.

We are honored to have Southerly as part of our team. With a wealth of knowledge and experience with teaching, competing, backing youngsters and riding horses that are not for the faint hearted. Her lessons are great fun, loud, enthusiastic and informative. You will work hard and sweat hard. She loves her horses and treats all her rides as her own!

A true Larkspur Legend.
