Here are our amazing instructors – We are so proud of what we have achieved here, and each one of our team brings another skill and another personality to help encourage and nurture all of our riders, young, old and in-betweens!
Simone Russell
Simone was, in her own words, thrown onto ponies before she could walk. She owned her own horses for over two decades competing in dressage, show jumping and eventing, achieving her AI in 2001. Simone is one of the yard mums and loves a good chin wag! If you need any extra support with your riding, Simone is our resident horse (and client!) ‘whisperer’!
Selina Riley
Selina! A firm favourite with clients big and little! Having begun her horse-riding at 3yrs of age, Selina still manages to ‘participate’ from the ground in every lesson, not just instructing with words but actions too! Selina’s energy captures the riders and they all take a journey that is fun, ‘slightly bonkers’ but technical too! A woman of many talents 🙂 She has been working with horses for almost 10 years now, gaining experience and skills along the way. Became fully qualified instructor 2017 and hasn’t looked back!
Heidi Truebody
Heidi has come all the way from South Africa! having been born and bred on a farm, Heidi could ride before she could walk! Over the years she has competed in most equine sports including: Showing, Carriage Driving, Show Jumping, Dressage, XC and Polo Cross (pretty sure there would be more too)! Having completed her AI with BHS (2016), Heidi teaches with precision and passion! Outside of work Heidi is a young mum, keen photographer and big fluffy dog owner.
Lucy Amy
Lucy is part of a fabulous equine family that have run a livery business for over 50 years, her brother Andrew Amy even used to compete our beautiful skewbald gelding Louis (Just Like That) in showjumping and working hunter showing! Lucy herself has been showing our very own home-bred Arab mare Basheera (Xquisite Dream), as seen in our riding school, and qualified and placed at HOYS in October 2021. Recently Lucy represented Team GB U25s at the FEI European Championships 2021. As well as running dressage clinics and teaching, Lucy schools our fabulous horses and keeps them on the straight and narrow, giving them a touch of that spotlight (..without the spotlight). A fantastic rider and an even more fantastic person!
Andrew Amy
Andrew Amy is part of the same fabulous equine family as detailed above, being Lucy Amy’s brother. We here at Larkspur do like to keep it in the family 😉 Andrew has been coming to our riding school and running our Jump Clinics, in addition to previously competing one of our very own skewbald geldings Louis (Just Like That) at Novice Working Hunter Level. Andrew is only a ‘part time equestrian’ however! His ‘proper job’ is CEO and Co-Founder of Whickr – the UK’s #1 app for buying and selling horses. We just know that we love to have Andrew visit us and entertain us with his fun vibe, dedication to the welfare of the animals, and technical knowledge (and let us be honest, his teeth are still amazing!)
